The company “Kauno silas”, founded 1990, is a enterprise producing EPS (expandable polystyrene) panels for building heat insulation. In the beginning the company’s main avtivity was house construction, since 1997 the enterprise specialises in the production of EPS panels.
According the Lithuanian standards “Kauno silas” is a medium-size enterprise with about 60 employees. The company has a stabil position maintaining the largest part of the Lituanian EPS market. Since 2002 the heat insulation panels are also produced using Neopor recently developed by BASF. Since 2006 the company also produces EPS impact sound insulation boards.
The production of “Kauno silas” is fully up to standard of the ES norms. For the production of EPS the company uses the raw material of high quality, brought from Germany, Finland and other Western European countries. The high quality of production is guaranteed by modern production control system, by applied international ISO norm and by continuous upgrading of the production equipment. The vertical block mould of new generation operating in “Kauno silas” ensures the very best quality of EPS products.
The company “Kauno silas” produces EPS panels of various types and dimensions. The transport department of the enterprise delivers the ordered products to any Lithuanian customer within the 24 hours.
The store of building materials owned by “Kauno shilas” trades various heat insulation materials and systems.
In recent years "Kauno silas" organized the series of lectures-discussions in various Lithuanian cities meant for the architects, engineers and representatives of contruction industry on properties and application of the EPS with the purpose to counteract the the widespread false stereotypes concerning this material.
In the spring of 2008 the company produced the CD containing: the newest information about various aspects of the EPS; Construction regulations of 2005 pertaining to the insulation with EPS; the film created on behalf of "Kauno silas" on the baselessness of some widespread myths about this material as well more than 60 plans of the construction details and about 50 in DWG format.
In 2008 a new plant of "Kauno silas" has been launched in Rietavas, a town some 50 km east of Klaipeda, after an investment of LTL 12m. The facility's output capacity of 300,000 cb.m per year equals that of the company's first plant in Kaunas.
