Manufacturers Recommendations
- Expanded polystyrene (EPS) thermal insulation is intended for insulating building structures. Learn more about insulation solutions: www.kaunosilas.lt, www.epsa.lt
- Use EPS products (boards, blocks, etc.) only as intended - otherwise, they may fail to perform their intended functions. During installation, fastening, sealing, or other uses of the product, it is recommended to follow Construction Rules ST 2124555837.01:2021 prepared by the Expanded Polystyrene Association.
- Products may be stored outdoors, provided they are protected from direct sunlight, UV radiation, and atmospheric exposure. Packaging and boards must be properly secured or weighted down to prevent them from being blown away by the wind or otherwise scattered into the surrounding environment.
- Keep products away from open flames, sparks, and other high-temperature sources. Follow fire safety requirements and maintain a safe distance from flammable materials in the storage area.
- Protect products from physical damage as well as exposure to volatile petroleum products, fuels, lubricants, and other aggressive solvents during loading, transportation, and storage.
- Installed or stored products must be covered or otherwise protected as soon as possible - prolonged exposure of unprotected EPS products to direct sunlight, UV rays, or atmospheric elements is not permitted.
- Installation, fastening, and finishing work involving EPS products must be performed by appropriately qualified specialists or certified construction companies. Technical supervision must be ensured during the work, adhering to user instructions, best construction practices, and applicable occupational and fire safety regulations.
- External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS) utilizing EPS products must be installed according to the system supplier's instructions using mutually compatible components. Using uncertified or incompatible system components may result in product deformation or other damage.
- When cutting products on the construction site, the use of hot-cutting equipment (hot wire cutters, hot knives, etc.) is recommended - this minimizes the generation of fine waste and dust that could be spread by wind or water.
- EPS waste and offcuts generated at the construction site must be collected and not left scattered around the environment.
- Expanded polystyrene is a recyclable material - clean, uncontaminated offcuts and product remnants must be sorted separately into transparent bags and handed over to recyclers in compliance with the requirements of the valid Construction Waste Management Rules.
Non-compliance with the manufacturer's recommendations may result in damage to the EPS product and/or the loss of its essential properties, rendering it unfit for further use and/or unable to perform its intended functions. The manufacturer accepts no liability for the quality of the product - the expanded polystyrene item - if it was used without following the manufacturer's recommendations and instructions.
